SHIFTS:

Morning, Afternoon, and Midnight shifts.


Summary/Objective

Handle delayed, damaged, and pilfered baggage claims promptly and by company policy at Baggage Service Offices.


Essential Functions:

  1. The Baggage agent representative will be stationed at the BSO office in the airport to facilitate the team's effective help with customers' delayed, damaged, or stolen luggage.
  2. The Baggage agent Representative is tasked with offering empathetic and helpful support to customers who have been separated from their belongings. Moreover, they are expected to display resourcefulness in locating valuable items or aiding customers in replacing damaged belongings.

  4. The Baggage agent will engage with airline passengers in a courteous, efficient, friendly, and professional manner.
  5. Process delayed, damaged, and pilfered baggage claims promptly and in accordance with company policy at Baggage Service Offices.
  6. Ensure all baggage file information is complete and accurate in the computerized baggage tracking system, updating the file when applicable.
  7. Amend existing files with baggage status promptly and pursuant to company policy.
  8. Close resolved baggage claims files promptly and in accordance with company policy.
  9. Arrange baggage delivery with baggage service delivery providers.
  10. Assist customers with damaged and pilfered bags, lost and found and loss and/or delay of assistive devices
  11. Understand and manage work based on DOT guidelines, limits to liability, Contract of Carriage and company policy.
  12. Implement policies and procedures for Priority Parcel Service packages.
  13. Log and manage Lost & Found/Left on Board items. These Left on Board items must be cleared by CBP authorities and locked in the L&F office. A daily report (if applicable) must be presented to the Manager/Supervisor on Duty.
  14. Additional related duties as deemed operationally necessary by baggage service supplier or airline.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position supervises the team of passenger service agents at the counter and gates.


Work Environment

This job operates in a professional airport environment. Employees may be exposed to outside elements such as rain, sun and others. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers/scans, filing cabinets. 


Physical Demands

This position is very active and requires standing, walking and seating.


Required Education and Experience

  1. High school diploma or GED.
  2. 2-3 years’ experience in customer service at airport or similar entities. 


Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  1. Pass a background check.
  2. Computer literacy in MS Office packages such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
  3. Must be able to read, write and speak English.
  4. Experience in Customer Service
  5. The job requires someone empathetic and helpful to customers. 


Security Clearance (if applicable)

In order to obtain the airport ID, the baggage agent must meet the eligibility requirements for a CBP seal and successfully pass a criminal background check. Approval for the CBP seal necessitates a five- (5) year residence history and ten (10) years of education/professional information.
